This sky-high pod in Sharjah is zooming away between cities

Transportation is about to get a lot easier with this new electric sky vehicle.

A SHIPPING CONTAINER TERMINAL in UAE, Sharjah is now home to cable car type sky pods that are moving as quickly as 500km/hr between all of the Emirates and transporting goods and people alike.

These pods are a brand-new addition to a test center in Sharjah, with trial runs expected to start this December or early January onwards. These cable-like cars can hold up to four people, but what’s really striking about these pods is their super-fast speed. You can reach the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park from the starting point in Sharjah’s test center in less than 60 seconds – isn’t that something?

While these pods are not yet open to the public, they are operating within the $14 million site at full capacity. Once they’re open, people can feast their eyes on the technological innovations set to happen – shipping containers zooming away in high-speed electrical cables – a vision to be set in stone. Pollution costs are being cut down increasingly. What would once require abundant vehicles to transport, now only needs to be pushed into one of these sky-pods.

This innovative project is being developed by the world-renowned technology group uSky transport. Engineers, architects, and scientists from the company are bringing forth their ideas and combining them together making for a useful and futuristic creation–the Usky car.

A cargo route is gearing up to connect Jebel Ali Port with Al Maktoum International Airport – an 18-kilometer journey. However, this project is next on the horizon for the Usky group as they are looking to connect smaller distances, for the time being.

Each container in the shipping terminal will have a bunch of sky pods – with different ones for passengers and cargo or goods. They are semi-rigid structures, with fully-fledged containers that are estimated to travel up to 120km/hr. Compared to a typical transportation medium like a car or airplane, these pods take up small amounts of electricity.

The innovative model of the sky-pod with its steel embeds and rare tech skills traveled from Belarus to UAE from the mastermind and founder of Unitsky String Technologies, Dr. Anatoli Unitsky.  Given UAE is making big strides in the robotics, AI, and technological fields and ranking first in the world in the science sectors, this innovative tool couldn’t come at a better time.

In a release last month, Abu Dhabi acknowledged the benefits of integrating uSky into their transportation systems. For one, it works toward enhanced safety of high-speed transportation due to rolling stocks traveling high above the ground. uSky in the UAE also generates environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, and a high level of adaptability. Did we mention that it’s also super fast? Travelling up high in the city, the pods zoom at 150 km/h. By far, its most outstanding quality is no traffic. We’d all love to just skip our way past congested roads, uSky will make that happen without without disturbing the surrounding architecture.

Mr. Oleg Zaretskiy, Chief Executive of USky transport talks about his decision of picking UAE for the sky pod project, “We have had great interest from all over the world but primarily in the UAE with some prominent developers here.”

“A possibility of construction on territories with challenging terrain and adverse climatic conditions, preservation of natural landscapes, versatility and integrability with communication lines – these are just a few of many advantages that uSky technology provides,” mentions Zaretskiy, further adding, “Taking all this into consideration, it is safe to say that the universal application of such systems can contribute to a vigorous and large-scale growth in the social and economic life of any country worldwide.”
